Optional Rehabilitation Services Inc., (OPTIONS), a private company incorporated August 7, 1986, was born from the desire to develop new, exciting and innovative routes for providing care and support to people with disabilities.

OPTIONS is currently involved in a number of service areas providing staffing support to a variety of individuals in their own homes as well as vocational and community support, monitoring and outreach support. 

OPTIONS recruits qualified and experienced personnel with the individuals, guardians and/or families involved in the hiring ensuring compatible "matches" regarding skill areas, interests, etc.

 

Ongoing specialized training opportunities are made available to OPTIONS' personnel ensuring up to date skills and expertise are available to the individuals being served.  

OPTIONS works closely with representatives from Alberta Family & Social Services, the Office of the Public Guardian, the Alberta Association for Community Living, various Community Based agencies and the community at large.

Wednesday, November 4 from 5:30 pm – 7:30 pm, a pot luck dinner was held at OPTIONS with both agencies celebrating their outgoing and incoming Service Excellence Advisors.  The potluck was for Administration Staff and the Service Excellence Advisors from both agencies.

Optional Rehabilitation Services (OPTIONS) Inc. provides support to children, adults and seniors who are challenged with a disability.  Our role is to support clients to live in their own homes, to provide community support and to access their community in meaningful ways.  We also provide day services with a wide range of learning opportunities.  We are looking for people who want to make a difference in someone’s life! Your contribution:

OPTIONS is seeking Support Workers to provide direct support to individuals with disabilities, as well as participate in assessment, person-centered planning and plan implementation.  Additional specialized education / training and more extensive experience is required to provide support in more complex circumstances as well as to cover a broader range of service and support options. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Participating with the individual and the individual's support network as appropriate to facilitate and support the development and documentation of individualized, person centered plans to provide a framework for ongoing support and assistance.  The plans will focus on individual development, community participation and / or personal care.
  • Facilitate in the implementation of support plans and ensuring the coordination of communication among team members.
  • Supporting and encouraging individuals to exercise their rights and responsibilities to make life choices and to participate actively in meaningful respectful and authentic relationships that align with, and support, their goals.
  • Being aware of the individual's physical, social and recreational environments and taking action to minimize risks and maximize participation / inclusion.
  • Being aware of and adhering to established policies, practices and operational protocols; this includes being aware of and adhering to medical protocols, CET standards, abuse protocol and restrictive procedures.

What it takes to be part of our dynamic team:

  • Work experience in supporting individuals with physical and / developmental disabilities.
  • A Diploma in Rehabilitation or the Social Sciences; with at least one to three year's related experience in a human services field, ideally involving people with developmental disabilities.
  • The equivalent of education and experience will be considered.
  • 1 - 3 years related experience.
  • First Aid and CPR certification and possibly other related courses.
  • Strong team player in a collaborative work environment.
  • The ability to work various shift schedules and in physically challenging situations, if required.
  • Ability to effectively communicate in both verbal and written English.
